The History of Liberalism

Liberalism is both a rather amorphous term and that it's historically a term in which a number of different strands have come together. So I think that's the first thing I'd say about liberalism, that it's like Christianity or it's like democracy. And one of the particular components of liberalism that I'm particularly worried about are two components actually. One is the centrality of the notion of consensus and the other is the notion of neutrality.
