George Lucas wanted $15 million in cash, but the division came with a business plan that required an additional $15 million investment. Ed Alvi had worked hard to cultivate an egalitarian culture at Lucasfilm and prided himself on imposing as little hierarchy as possible. With few other investors interested, Ed would come to see Steve Jobs as the division's only chance for survival.
