The Compton Gamma Ray Observatory

The Compton Gamma Ray Observatory was one of the original NASA great observatories from way back in the day. It had amazing instruments on board unfortunately in 2000 it lost one of its gyroscopes and then it had a spare so it was still comfortably in orbit but if it were to lose another one it could not be controlled anymore. So NASA decided unfortunately to safely deorbit the satellite it fell into the ocean now it sleeps with the fishes and observes the ocean from the inside the ISS.
