Is There a Difference Between Desire and Freedom in Gerard?
There's a sense in Gerard that we are deeply influenced by our desires, by imitation. But for Gerard, there also seems to be that sense of freedom, right? Which is again, part of Aristotelian, Bonaventure Thomas' understanding of the back and forth between being shaped by something and having freedom. This is a both, a classic, both an scenario, one in each hand. It takes a certain amount of humility to realize that I can't create or shape my desires on my own and that I need other people.
