Wyoming GOP Opposes Child Marriage Bill
Wyoming Republicans opposed a bill that would raise the state's legal marriage age to 18 because as of now a child under the age of 18 can be married even to adults if their parents ask a judge to allow it. According to anti-child marriage advocacy group Unchained at Last 1,260 children were married in Wyoming between 2000 and 2019 98 percent of which were underage girls being married to adult men. They sent out an email to their constituents saying this bill may seem harmless but there are concerns about constitutional rights.
