The House of Jeroboam Would Be Cut Off by the Sword
Amos had been delivering his message in bethel, presumably to be heard by many people who came there to worship. Perhaps amaziah saw amos s message receiving traction among the people. And so he sent to the king jereboam the second, telling him that amos was conspiring against him. Amaziah commands amos to return to judah at once, to his land of takoah and not to come back.
