I was fascinated by New York accents. I just wanted to write movies about them. So that's what I wound up doing, writing a movie about one of those guys. It eventually reached Darren Aronofsky who... Was he in New York? He was in New York. And he really loved it and was interested in directing it. The problem we kept running into was the NFL issue because it is their real team.
