Is the Painting a Window Into Different People's Lives?

The painting almost seems more like a window, exactly, into different people's lives. So is the story from the art the paint s point of view? Is that how we see the story? Yes. And so that's kind of where my struggles ar lying in with people reading it,. How do we make a sort of passive observer, kind of ampathetic or interesting? That's the kind of worm i'm struggling with right now.
