The Coddrington Estates and Christianity
The fact that he wanted to convert these Africans. Well this is a very interesting question and it exposes a kind of contradiction in Barbados society at the time. It's very uncharacteristic that you would actually christianize your enslaved population. The Coddrington on one level was a progressive. But he did fall out with a number of local Barbadian planters who didn't necessarily see the need to do this, to christianize.
