The Uncontained Failure of an Aircraft
The left engine had suffered an uncontained failure, which punctured a wing fuel tank access panel. Uncontained failure just means that the engine failed and then a part of it shot out. Fuel leaking from the wing ignited and burned as a large plume of fire trailing behind the engine. The commander started to inform air traffic control that they were abandoning the takeoff.
