Aristotle and the Lagoon in Lesbos

In many ways I regard Plato as the antithesis of a scientist. Aristotle somehow manages to check off the influence of this gigantic figure and reshape himself. He gets to Lesbos and there's a lagoon. Why are those two things significant? Aristotle does biology. And he begins to do it empirically. Like Dora needed the Galapagos. For that you need a place to go. And it turns out that there's the lagoon in Lesbos. This wonderful body of water which bisects this island. It's one of the richest places in the Aegean. Many of the places that he described, they're in and around the lagoon and the creatures
