The Progression of Nicodemus in the Gospel of John

Nicodemus came to Jesus by night and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pound weight. Then they took the body of Jesus, wound it in linen clothes with the spices as the manner of the Jews is to bury. I see Nicodemus as someone who was wrestling with his position among men and he wanted to maintain that position among men. The rest of chapter three is the story of a man who was not concerned one bit about his position with men and simply sought to fulfill the role he was given in drawing attention to Christ.
