The Health Effects of Wildfire Smoke
Toxicologist Liz Walker says wildfire smoke has health effects that we don't even fully understand yet. She hypothesized that controlled burns at lower temperatures and higher humidities might actually be worse for human health, because wet fires are more smoky. But so far, there's no clear evidence either way. What is clear is that it's better for everyone if smoke doesn't intrude on a town but then that has to be balanced with the need to do fuel reduction.
