The Last Days of the Kronstadt Rebellion

After another week's stand off, the communists launched their final assault on kronstadt. This time they prepared fully 50 to 60 thousand troops to take back the island. The two sides fought each other with heavy casualties on both sides all through march seventeenth. On march eighteenth, the red army forces had battled their way inside,. and they controlled all the major structures on the island. By noon on March eighteenth, the last rebels surrendered - which was probably a smart decision because tronsky had just approved a plan to use mical weapons if the rebels continued to resist.
