Lawata: The main idea of the book is that though anxiety is extremely painful, anxiety itself is not the enemy. Psychological avoidance is anything that we do that helps us feel better momentarily, but it has a negative long term consequence. When we avoid, we feel better momentarily long term. We adjust creating more anxiety. What the book is about is we can get rid of avoidance, but we can't get rid of anxiety. So we need to be fighting the right enemy to live a bold life.
