Bernard Starmour's Resignation
Starmour was selected as the Labour candidate for Hobart and St Pancras in December 2014, and elected in May 2015. The former top prosecutor had backed early favourite Andy Burnham in the leadership contest. When Jeremy Corbyn won, Starmour took on the role of shadow immigration minister. It wasn't some great strategy of putting Keir Starmour in that post - it was almost like quick-filled places so we can actually fill a front bench. So I'm tendering my resignation, taking effect. He didn't walk straight into Prime Minister Ed Miliband's new cabinet in May 2015,. Instead, he walked straight to the opposition benches and a Labour parliamentary party tearing itself apart.
