Dr. Turkington: Advent is not just celebrating with Christmas lights and warm apple cider, but also recognizing the gloom and the darkness that Jesus stepped into for our salvation. I love preaching during Advent every bit as much as an Easter Sunday. So let me commend three things about preaching during Advent. Number one, doctrinal preaching on the person of Christ. There is not in the American church and probably in the global church too much focus on his incarnation or pre-existence.
