Covenant Making

A covenant was made by two parties by taking an animal a cow or a goat or a ram and cutting it in half. They would stand in between the two body parts of the animal and they would make a covenant. When God's people came to realize they're over and over sinning against God but God's over and over mercy towards them they made a covenant saying we will keep and obey all your commands. What Israel is doing here is saying we want to change a thousand years of our history. We don't want to just live the way that I want anymore it's only led to my misery.
