The Effects of Wildfire Smoke on Emergency Department Visits
The study showed a full doubling of emergency department visits for asthma, as well as a 50% increase in pneumonia. We have very few studies looking at the long term effects of wildfire smoke which makes it a little bit difficult for all of us to make decisions that will be better when those studies come out. It's one of the reasons why we recommend that pregnant women be treated as a vulnerable population and really try to avoid the smoke.
