What's the Big Picture?
There's just a lot of momentum against the pound, which is not going to dissipate any time soon. Many people in the markets are 50-50 on whether or not it'll get below one dollar. But what i thinkt they've lost a bit of room for manoeuvre that they had from their credibility and don't want to lose any more. And the risk, as chris says, is if they start looking like they're not independent, and allowing, in a sense, the government to print money to get itself out of trouble. That could be very risky.
