The story will probably be familiar to a lot of listeners, even if the name isn't familiar right away. Okichi is really one of the sort of great tragic figures of Geisha culture. It's kind of like misperceptions about the Ottoman hair almost. Right. They were really women of great culture, and really artists in their own right and performers.
