LK-99: A New Frontier in Science
If a material like LK-99 can be used to make quantum chips, that could open the door to more realistically achievable quantum computing. Current MRI machines use large superconductors cooled by liquid nitrogen to generate the massive magnetic fields required for the imaging process. Another current application? The cost to construct and operate superconductor-based high-speed rail could collapse. And of course, we haven't even gotten into the 80s dream of hoverboards and things like that.
