I think me just a commassie violation of okam's razor. If the problem is we don't know how to make sense of consciousness in terms of physicalist premises, than by postulating simulation, you just postponed the problem. So that has to come out some other way. And we call that now the religion of singulatarianism, or uploading your consciousness to silicon and liveing forever and being taken care of of by a super powerful god produced throughthe singularity.
