The Boom of Melbourne in the 1880s

From 1835 it has reached about 29,000 by the time the gold rush comes. Then in the 1850s it really takes off and grows between 1851 and 1861. And much of that growth occurs in just three or four years in the early 1850s. So Melbourne is to use a phrase as an instant city. It really takes off very, very quickly.
