Praying the Text
Many jewish prayers come straight out of the text, especially the psalms a. I think in a lot of ways, some jews might look at the typical christian experience with prayer and the practice of prayer as pretty flippant. But i do think that one of the things the jews have to teach us is the fact that god's already spoken. So lots of differet ways to pray. Some people just love it; others don't need any instruction. And then there's people like me who will take a little bit of liturgy or contemplative prayer into account when they are praying. My favorite discipline: solitude, sabbath and silence
