Are There Any Controlled Studies on Drones?
There's a very different psychological experience between someone fighting and having to kill an enemy soldier in hand-to-hand combat versus shooting someone at low range where they really don't just kind of see a silhouette. So you can have situations where we've had now for 20 years, drone operators from the U.S. flying drones all the way around the world in places like Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere and using lethal force. And those are very different psychological experiences in terms of the weight of that killing, the moral weight that people experience and the trauma that they experience afterwards.
