Mobile Base Stations and Diesel Generator Backups in Urban Areas

This week i spoke to a former BT executive who's worked at a senior level in BT and on the mobile side in particular. He basically said that this idea of uh mobile base stations and diesel generator backups is something of a myth in urban areas. The battery backup is genuinely designed to be able to recover the base station or the mast when the power resumes it's there so an engineer doesn't have to go out and reprogram the entire thing.
