The polar bears of Hudson Bay: cubs, climate, and calories, part 1
The Wild with Chris Morgan
The Polar Bears of Hudson Bay
Polar bear denning area in Churchill, Canada is the world's most southerly population. Hundreds of dens are dug by pregnant females every fall for their cubs to emerge on land later that year. The Northern Study Centre has a field camp for researchers studying everything from Northern Lights to Caribou. It'll be my base camp for the next 10 days, perfectly located, a short helicopter ride from the edge of the bears' denning area and the sea ice.
