In December 2021, the Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness said there is no question that Jamaica has to become a republic. The primary reason is that we are an independent nation and our association with the Queen was not by choice. Our people have no good record with the British Empire to suggest that we should continue being over-seeded by the Queen or now King Charles.
