The Houses of Lancaster and York
The houses of york and lancaster were two noble families very closely related by blood. In fact, both with strong claims to the kingdom of england. The house of lancaster was founded for edmund crouchback, a younger son of henry the third. He had property in 600 a 32 separate locations throughout 25 counties. A single knight's fee was enough to maintain a knight. So incredibly wealthy man. And that wealth passed down through his descendants until he wrested control of the throne from richard the second.
