Oxygen should only be given to patients with saturations less than 94% according to British Thoracic Society guidelines. GTN is a sublingually administered nitrate which gives rise to nitric oxide now that causes vasodilation and increases blood flow to the myocardium. There's actually no evidence for mortality benefit in the administration of GTN so I guess in their minds there it is a symptom control drug. morphine has been associated with a slower uptake a delayed onset of action and diminished effects of oral P2Y12 receptor antagonist antiplatelets.
