How Much Can We Really Learn From History?

I think there is an incredible amount to learn from history and I'll sort of take the other side of that one. There's this weird thing where we tend to like kind of assume a very flat version of the past and of people in the past. And they're actually they're all super deep rich, interesting people in perspective. Rousseau knew what a better answer here looked like. He just also knew that within the context of the society he was living in, it wasn't feasible. We can talk more about what some of those particularly like experimental opportunities look like.
