The Differences Between Goldman Sachs and Apple
The card was designed by Apple mostly, you're absolutely right, to sell Apple hardware. Goldman wanted to be like a major force in consumer finance and they wound up saying like teaming up with Apple would be a great way of doing this. And it turns out that what they wound up doing was allowing a bunch of not rich people to buy phones and then a bunch of those not rich people wound up defaulting on those loans or causing Goldman credit losses.
