Republicans have seized on this narrative that Joe Biden and the Democrats are yet again ignoring the forgotten people in the middle of the country. These Palestinians overwhelmingly white and it's politically conservative. More than 70% of the voters in the surrounding county supported Donald Trump in the last election. Republicans will get away with it because while they complain, despite their own policies leading to this stuff, the media is carrying them and doing exactly what you think they'd be doing.
