What Was the Point of Creating the Bible?

I grew up in an evangelical christian cultand no exaggeration there. I just wonder, what was it like? What was the point of telling these stories? If they weren't true, why would they make them up? And i guess what was in it for them that most altural tribalism, every group has their cultural stories and so forth. But then it also the would use these myths to establish their behaviors. You know, this is what we do. Thisi what we believe in riht. It's all part of their cultural identity. The bible was not supposed to be read with this absolutely literal ataint to it. That's when the believers became biblical literalists
