Neuro Science Supports the Snake Detection Hypothesis

The visual processing areas of the brains of primates are expanded compared to most other mammals. One of these areas deals with non conscious, automatic preditor detection and then an immediate motor reaction. A group of researchers set out to test whether the snake detection hypothesis could be backed by nero science. They showed macak monkeys a series of images snakes other maka, faces, maca hands and geometric shapes. And they measured how strongly the nurons in the polvenar region of these monkeys responded.
