Halo effect is a fallacy, it's a cognitive bias. If you're good at something requiring intellectual ability, smarts, whatever the quality is, if you put them in a job that doesn't require that, they might not be that good. You take a guy that went to an Ivy League school, who had a perfect SAT score, and you put him in a seal platoon, he doesn't know how to interact with other people,. He doesn't have good emotional IQ, right? And so he's a disaster. This is the use of psychology in war and life. It does comes about that, the great task of creating new forces is principally a matter of selection and training
