The Future of Dark Energy

Dark energy is an increasing fraction of the energy density of the universe. It just further accelerates the expansion If you extrapolate that out naively Then yeah, you get the scenario we just outlined But as you say we don't really understand dark energy Where it comes from What is this source of potential energy That's accelerating the expansion of the universe? Could it change? And in fact it might, right? Because we don't know the underlying mechanism that creates itIt could be that there's some complicated dynamics there That change with time and give us a different future.
