The Importance of Being in a City
I think cities are these entities that are kind of shaped by policy and shaped by civil servants. But then they're also the sites of incredible dissent and revolutionary counterculture, right? They have to contain both of these things. And I think that's why they offer so much to authors,. The fact that you can plausibly bring together people from totally different milieu in an instant is like the big gift to literature of the city.
