The Relationship Between the Players and the Umpire

My father was not really that friendly with players from the Negro League while I was growing up. They didn't hang out at all because, you know, he was an umpire and as my father said nobody respects or honors an umpire. The umpires are the forgotten persons on the ball field. So, yeah, so there wasn't a whole lot of connection until they created the nuclear baseball museum 30 years ago.
