Marriage as an Important Modern Ritual
Ritual is open to what we project into it and the meanings we give to it. Some rituals encourage progress, some are obstacle to progress. Rituals also have a positive potential for abetting social cohesion by engendering emotional sharing among a group. So where the purpose for which they've been enlisted has been listed, the ritual can be progressive.
