The Risks of Not Having Children
The chances that something bad could happen to them. Even if it doesn't result, exposing them to that risk seems like a moral hazard. None of those things would happen if they were never brought into existence. It is only our very strong interest in having a child that could justify imposing this sort of risk at all. So I don't see a rationale for saying that the parents should just not count.
