An earthquake tax was introduced. For more than 20 years, that tax was collected. Every individual who owns a property has to pay that tax. But that tax was clearly spent, but there was no accountability. All the parliamentary questions and other questions raised in the media elsewhere were just brushed off. And it was not explained where that money was spent. Also, the other thing that created revenue for the government to prepare for earthquake was the building amnesties that they introduced. That also brought quite a big amount of revenue into treasury. It started some years back long before AKP government.
