Mao wanted to extend Marshall Plan into Soviet Union at price of demobilizing class war forever. Khrushchev said, give him fucking radios. Give him vacations to the Black Sea. Give him hamburgers. Mao's idea. No, no, fuck that. We're going to give them a pageant of purification. And after they burned through the country, the last one standing was dang and said, no, give them burgers. Of course there's still hope. I just said it already happened. But to really embrace that is to sever yourself from a specific type of hope. Because at this point, I think clinging to that hope is really clinging to the ego.
