China's View on Military Assistance in Ukraine
There have been these continual suspicions about Chinese consideration of providing leaflaid to Moscow that would really benefit its juggling more effort in Ukraine. China doesn't want to be seen overtly as supporting Russia, so if China could covertly provide weapons to Russia or even through a third-party intermediary and not be traced back to Beijing, I think that is a relatively attractive option. The question mark for Beijing decision makers is, like, really do we need to help Russia to sustain Bakhmut? Probably not. But Russia is not losing the war to the way that it will challenge Putin's grip on power.
