The Importance of Awareness
Ramana Maharshi, the great Indian sage and spiritual teacher, said that the best definition of God that he had come across anywhere appeared in the Bible. Moses in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament meets God, whatever that means, and asks, who are you? And the answer is I am the I am. For example, the profound statement of Jesus, before Abraham was I am. In other words, I am is timeless. No, there is no past in the I am, and there is no future. But it's always there, awareness, awareness remains.
