The Importance of Community in My Life

Akbar: I'm a uptown boy, you know, I spent every day on the playground Dorothy Emmanuel Recreation Center. And I paid attention and watched people like my father create community every day in the in the 80s and 90s. He was a steward of many communities and neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia and I wanted to be that. So interesting sort of like childhood growth school, but yet or and humanity always spoke to me so I was able to carry both.
