Natural Gas - The Biggest Driver in Reducing Reliance on Coal
Natural gas accounts for 33 % of energy product production, up from 20% in two thousand six. Most of coal's energy production share is is being taken away from natural gas. Renewable energy production has grown from nine and a half percent to 13%. The shift to natural gas was market driven - national gas and natural gas energy production became significantly more competitive relative to coal.
