i teach spanish and french, but i am irish. And i did not grow up speaking those languages. Sometimes i do feel like, o gosh, should i even be talking about this? It's not really my native language. Beth skelton made a great point in acknowledging the fact that it's not my nativelanguage. Just acknowledging where you are, where your intersections are is one of the first important things to do. I think all of us have the potent to be great teachers of any language, but without acknowledging your positionality in thise complex we privilegead it struggles.
