i remember in the early days when women were coming into ministry, and i would say to my women seminarians, you are so wise to work on preaching. Even though i'm a methodist, whil i think of the methodist church, there's no reward for good preaching because you're employed by this superintendents and bishops who've never heard you preach. And that that the lay people find that the weirdest system in the world. But i'm i both was encouraged and discouraged by the preaching i heard.
